Freedom to Try. Yes,Freedom to Try. To be something we have to do something. This is a universal fact. No one gets something without doing anything.

It is different that some people have to make while some have to toil. But all have to make effort. We are brought up in the thinking dominated by action reaction theory. And we apply this to every action. As a result we expect result from our actions.

There are others who claim that we can do everything. Right from the cradle days to old age. This can is in the sense of achievement. But the results of efforts are dependent on many factors, some known, many unknown. When we achieve something we boast of our capability. And,when we fail we either plunge into gloom and depression or we get ready for another effort.

As per Indian scripture Geeta one should work and forget the result. However, it is hardly possible in real life. Our entire system is based on give and take. How can we forget result? Our examination results, our salaries, everything is based on the logic of action-reaction, effort -result, give and take an so on.

Lets think in terms of efforts. We have absolute freedom to make efforts. Lets think what does this mean. We can always act. It is not a small thing. But we are not able to enjoy this freedom because we first think in terms of results. We have our own assumptions about success and our own concept of success, because we are taught to define goals and mobilise our support support.

However, I feel we should fix our goal see things and make efforts. We may not have achieved what we desired. But we have certainly achieved something put of our efforts. It is different that it might not be our goal.

I am saying that we should settle for less. I am not saying anything about the result. Just think in terms of your freedom of effort, your ability to strive for something. Try it. The results will speak themselves. It is just to correct your perception of the idea of freedom of Action.

Yogesh Sharma

www.gujaratglobal.com

Mind Your Language

In our life language matters a lot. When we are out to become something, to achieve something, the language plays an important role. Everyone talks about the decent language for conversation and presentation. No one needs any suggestions for this dimension of our language. But, here I am talking about the language we use to describe ourselves.

The problem with this use of language is that we use it while talking about ourselves. It can be right from a casual remark like my life is like this to I cannot do this. The irony is that most of time we are not aware of our own language. The way we describe our self to our self or in conversation with others matter a lot in our psychological make up.

If you have a close friend with whom you can share your thoughts, your feelings, you can take his help in identifying such negative expressions in your personal conversation.

There is a definite relationship between our language and our psychological make up. And there is a definite way to influence this relationship. Note the negative words with which you describe yourself. Find suitable positive words to describe your personality traits. Speak those words aloud to yourself.

For example, if you have a feeling that you are unlucky. You have number of events to describe how unlucky you are. Just think you are lucky. You have number of events to prove that also. But our exercise does not end here. You say aloud "I am Lucky". Repeat it several times. Do it whenever you can find sometime.

Here is a very good exercise to fight your blues. Whenever you feel sad or depressed or are flooded with negative thoughts just breath out vigorously. It is a good exercise to shake off your negativity. Try it. It works. Ultimately life is game of breaths.

Yogesh Sharma

www.gujaratglobal.com

Be Your Own Boss

Every one of us want to achieve something, to be something. The desire to be something is very natural. The basic purpose of this blog is share information and skills with others which is necessary to help us become something.

How can we achieve this? Is there a short cut for this or easy path? The answer is plain no. What is the way out? The most basic thing is to have right approach. And this is probably the most difficult thing to have.

To be something, we must be very clear that the entire game of becoming depends on us and not on others. This is a very common statement which people make. But very few really know this or live with this view. What does it mean? It simply means that it is very difficult to change others, to mould others according to our views and ideas.

There are many problems in affecting changes in others. First of all every individual is an entity with his own views, aspirations and ambitions. Unless our goal fulfils their ambitions, there is hardly any chance that they will respond to our idea of change in their life or environment.

Everyone wants to achieve something and our goal of achievement should meet others this basic need of achievement. For instance, if I want to become CEO of my organisation, then I must be able to take work from my team. Why team should work. Only salary is no motivation.

People will work for me only if they are convinced that by doing what I say they will get something. It can be anything from higher pay packet to promotion or gratification in the sense of award or reward. Same is true for political leaders and others who want to gain something.

I may be very intelligent or brave. Unless my profile meet the requirement for the award or achievement,I am just useless for that award or achievement. Even those who have redefined success in the uncharted regions have ,in some way, achieved something for which there was dormant desire or unexploited redy ground.

Without that how can we change situation to our advantage. So the first lesson of self development and achieving something is that we should forget controlling others if we have to really achieve something substantial something great.

Then, what you should do? Try to be your own BOSS. It is easy to change yourself, rather than the world. If you cannot change yourself, what can you expect from others. If you will keep this fact about change in your life, your efforts will be more in right direction. You have to be just aware of the fact that you can change only yourself and not others.

Yogesh Sharma

www.gujaratglobal.com
